Leading Teaching & Learning
EYFS Sections 1 & 2
Know what effective practice looks like
Explore the seven areas of learning, the characteristics of effective teaching and learning, and the role of purposeful play and continuous provision.
Lead meaningful assessment
Consider how the key person approach and knowledge of each child inform teaching and planning. Understand the role of the Early Learning Goals without turning them into a nursery curriculum.
Evaluate and improve provision
Explore what leaders should observe, the questions to ask staff and how to identify priorities for improvement.
1:30pm–3:15pm:
Leading Safeguarding & Welfare
EYFS Section 3
Build an open safeguarding culture
Explore how leaders help staff recognise concerns, speak up and act—and how the Designated Safeguarding Lead supports effective practice.
Review the systems that keep children safe
Consider safer recruitment, staffing, supervision, ratios, health and safety, and the learning environment through the lens of England’s EYFS expectations.
Turn policies into everyday practice
Examine how records, procedures and leadership oversight support consistent action, with consideration of local requirements and reporting arrangements.
3:15pm–3:30pm: Reflection & Action Planning
Bring your learning together, identify your next steps and receive your CPD certificate of attendance.
